Poetry Slam: Stephan Murray
Monday 6th November:
We met Steve this morning for the first 4 classes and the other group of TY's met him after this. He introduced himself to us and we done the same. He works for the organisation of Inspireland and lives in Athlone. He started off with telling us a story to imagine. The story he told us was it's your wedding day and you're getting married to your dream girl/boy when the bad girl/boy of the town comes in when ye are about to say your vows to each other and they kiss your dad come up to the alter, hurt your dream girl/boy and on the way out they shoot your dog. We had to pretend it was real and express our anger in writing by saying what we would do to them after they done all that. All of our writing today was on the computer so that was nice.
The next exercise was to write down things we hated and loved about both girls and boys. We then told Steve what we had typed and we discussed our answers.
The last exercise was to write a poem ans submit it on the Inspireland website and put our names at the end. Myself and Chloe done our poem together. I enjoyed this exercise because it was fun.
Overall I loved Steve because he didn't treat us like kids and he even said to us that he would treat and speak to us like adults which was good. Also he was so funny and nice, it would be great if he could come back again.
