Wednesday 6th September:
For the full day today we had a wellbeing course. It consisted of exercise, nutrition and education. Jeffery Adams an ex army ranger and Agatha, a spanish nutritionist were in charge of the running of the course. Jeff told us about how exercise helps us in our daily lives and how nutrition is a big part of it. He used the hunter games as an example. He also told us about his time in the army and special forces. Agatha began to tell us about the effects of too much sugar in the diet. She showed us 2 videos of Jamie Oliver talking about diets full of sugar at home, in school and at work.
We also went outside and we were split into teams of 10-12 to compete in different games called the hunter games. Today we done tug of war, knock out and eliminator. The teams were separated by wrist bands of different colours. The pink team, the blue, the grey, the army and then there was Jeff's team which didn't have any colour. It was a really fun day and we will be continuing more tomorrow.

Thursday 7th September:
Today was our second day of the Healthy Lifestyle Programme. We done a shuttle run this morning, we were split into 2 groups for this and in the shuttle run we had to work as a team to transfer 120 counters from one bucket and one end of the court yard to another bucket at the other end of the court yard in the best time in order to beat the other team.
Then we went back inside and we got a talk from Agatha about our diets. She told us that it was important that we get plenty of good fats in our diets to help build up our muscle, help us to stay healthy and to burn calories. She also showed us a video on a harmful chemical called MSG which is added to many foods. She told us to read the backs of packaging on foods so we would know what we're putting into our bodies.
Next we went back outside and had a group relay and a relay race. After this Jeff showed us several exercises to help strengthen our core (abs etc.) and he got us to try them down in the gym.
After this Agatha showed us another video but this time on meditation on how it could help people destress and relax. We then tried it out for a few minutes.
After this , awards were handed out to the winning team and winning individuals of all the different games and activities. We took pictures of different posters that set out different things like healthy eating, exercise and sleeping.
The last 2 days were enjoyable and a great learning experience.
