ALAN DIVINE: PUBLIC SPEAKING:
Thursday 5th October:
Today our whole day was devoted around 'Public Speaking' with Alan Devin who is an actor who also used to be known as Louis in the Irish soap FairCity.
This Morning:
Alan told us what we were going to be doing which was activities and games to help us gain more confidence and calm our nerves when standing up in front of an audience.
After Break:
We played more games as a group to boost our confidence in speaking 'up and out' to our audience. He told us nerves are normal and to give it a go or you will never know. He showed us all how to come out on stage and how to grab your audiences attention. He taught us stron walk, powerful stance, granny devine's smile 'smile and the whole world smiles with you'. He taught us to use hand gestures and when to use them, he taught us eye contact with your audience is key to keeping them listening to you and connected. He told us to pretend to be confident and confidence will come 'fake it till you make it'.
After Lunch:
We played more eye contact with your audience activities after lunch.
Overall I think today helped our class become more confident in public speaking. Alan will be coming back Friday the 13th of October to hear us practicing our public speaking as he sent us home with a task to come up with a speech about anything we wanted, write it out and learn it off. It has to be at least 90 seconds long and we then have to talk about it to the whole class. I think his activities and strategies really helped our class with our confidence and were really fun.

13th October: Friday
Alan came back in today and we all took our turns in standing up and saying our speeches in front of the whole class. It wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be because I just thought of Alan teaching us to be confident and it worked.
